about the site

Frail Frivolity Designs is a graphics design resource site theming primarily on anime, manga and japanese art, dashed with some conceptual photography and lyrical typography. It is owned and maintained by Koa-chan, a 16 year-old BS Computer Science college student and anime-manga enthusiast from the Philippines. It was founded on July 7, 2007 and up to now still up and running under the hosting services of Ethereal Rain Studio.

This site aims to give anime and designs enthusiasts and lovers quality graphics like avatars and wallpapers, resources such as brushes and renders, and designs such as the pre-made layouts that it can offer. This design site aims to please its visitors and guests by original design ideas and unique, quality graphics for their personal usage, either on their designing needs or on their web socializing - for free. So, enjoy your stay and feel free to roam around and view the freebies that FFD offers and I do hope that you come back and support the other upcoming updates in the future.

In-Depth

the name, a short history, and technicalities

Frail - fragile, breakable, delicate;
Frivolity - joy, lightheartedness, indulgement of simple and trivial pleasures
.Net - network

On technicalities, this site uses HTML, CSS, PHP and MySQL. It's a great deal to use these combinations as you'll grow far, far, far convenient with these handy sweethearts. My graphics database, download counters and updates posts are scripted personally by me. Commenting is taken care of by Haloscan. The shoutbox, I credit to Cbox from the very, very start. My contact form is generated by Freedback and is doing a really, really good job. The layouts are done via Photoshop CS3, Notepad and Dreamweaver, and are all tested for compatibility on both Microsoft Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox.

Frail-Frivolity is a personal collection of yours truly's collectives, portfolios, works, designs and shrines. It is formerly known as Anomalous-Trance, a site hosted by Sitesled which homes two sites: The-Lunatics, a personal website about my high school class and Frail-Frivolity, where this domain got its name - my works collective.

Unfortunately, SiteSled has been having a rough time and it catered to forced ads. I decided to move out. So bye-bye SiteSled and hello FreeHostia. ^_^ Freehostia is a good host. I got free subdomains, a fair amount of webspace, a complete database and enough bandwith. Unfortunately, the file size limit when uploading hindered my plans for new sections - specifically the renders. I decided to move once again.

And I found Ydreece's Essenxa.Net. It was a blessing to have found a hostess like her. There in Essenxa, Frail Frivolity's true capacities as a design site expanded. I grew to develop CMS Systems and such while still maintaining the whole site. It was a lot of fun in the making and my hostess was a very supportive one. Ydreece and Essenxa.Net suddenly had problems, not only with the server hosts, but also in Ydreece's personal life. I opted to take down the site by that time because I lost contact with my hostess. I thought of moving back to Freehostia, but then that means removing some sections that can't be supported. I lay low for a while, until I got the chance to work again and find a new host.

Frail Frivolity then was accepted by a brand new family. Charlotte and Rogelio kindly welcomed me here in Chanlu.Org and I'd have to say I'm pretty much happy about their hosting. I really started everything - especially the database - from scratch. Whoops, it was a really good thing that I was able to keep and archive most of my files and designs. "Back in Black and Shining and Yellow", as my comeback tagline/layout said.

Then Rain, formerly Ydreece of Essenxa, offered me a free domain and hosting package once again. I couldn't deny the opportunity, so, under Ethereal Rain Studio's back-up, I decided to move to my very own domain, Frail-Frivolity.Net, and go on with the blooming design site. ^^~

Then Hopefully, Frail-Frivolity will be able to stay a whole lot of time in the net, with modest traffic and good content to satisfy visitors. As a new college student who has to maintain grades for scholarship, I'm having a hard time putting this site in my schedule, but I promise updates and I'm putting this little home of sorts as one of my priority projects.
